Kilkich Emergency Response Team

|
Welcome to the KERT web page. This page is intended to provide information on the Coquille Indian Tribe's emergency preparedness plans, what KERT volunteers are doing to prepare the Kilkich community in case of an emergency, and recruit Kilkich community residents to volunteer.
What is KERT?
KERT is a committee established by the Kilkich Resident Association to develop, in conjunction with other Tribal entities, an emergency plan for the Kilkich Community. KERT is comprised of sub-committees dedicated to developing and coordinating resources related to various parts of an overall emergency plan. The sub-committees are: Medical; Food; Shelter; Equipment/Transportation; Utilities/Communication; Disabled & Elder Assistance. An organizational chart of KERT members and duties is available HERE.
Volunteers
KERT is looking for residents willing to assist with any of the sub-committees. Volunteers are needed for cooking, medical aid, construction, care giving, tent set-up, traffic control, runners, assistance with the evacuation of elders and people with disabilities. You don't need technical skills to be a good volunteer; a willingness to help and a commitment to serve your community are the only requirements. Interested community members can contact KERT using the information in the box on the upper-right of this page.
Meetings
KERT meetings are held at the CIHA office on the first and third Monday of every month at 6:00 pm. Meetings include updates from sub-committees and reports from CIT staff members who are developing the Tribe's Emergency Response Plan. KERT meetings also involve local emergency responders such as the Charleston Fire Department, and Coos County Sheriff's Department.
Disaster Mitigation Plan
The web page for the Coquille Indian Tribe's Disaster Mitigation Plan includes a brief description of the Tribe's efforts in developing disaster mitigation, a link to the final draft of the planning document, and maps of the Tribe's critical facilities.
